Genetics


 

The first Molecular Genetics master program in Iran was established in 1983 at the Faculty of Sciences of TMU with the cooperation of Prof. Mohammad Reza Nouri Deluee and Prof. Hossein Naderi-Manesh. After joining Prof. Sadeghizadeh, the department gradually increased its activities and it managed to enroll Ph.D. students in Genetics program in a joint collaboration with the Genetics Research Center of Iran in 2001.
Five faculty members of this department and their research teams have authored more than 500 original/review articles in peer-reviewed prestigious journals such as Journal of Biological Chemistry, Stem cells, International Journal of Cancer and etc. and also contributed to write many scientific books as an editor/ contributing author. They are also member of several editorial boards of international journals.
The main focus of research interests in this department are clinical assessment of phytochemical drugs, application of personalized medicine in genetic diseases, investigating the roles of non-coding RNAs in cancer and differentiation process and uncovering the roles microRNAs shuttled by of exosomes in tumor microenvironment.
