Fishing Products Processing


 

The field of processing fishery products of Tarbiat Modares University was formally established in 2007 and a year later in 2008, for the first time in Iran, it admitted master students in this field. Currently, the department of fisheries science and engineering offers graduate and post graduate programs in the field of “processing fishery products”. The activities of this department revolve around the border of science and technology and it strives to improve the quality of fishery products, produce new products and introduce marine food products. This department’s teaching efforts are aimed at transferring knowledge and technology to the general public and industry and fostering a new generation of science and technology-oriented students. Fishery Processing Department of Tarbiat Modares University is located at the Faculty of Marine Sciences at Noor City adjacent to the Caspian Sea. The new faculty with its unique design has research laboratories, classrooms and auditoriums. Also, the Fisheries Products Processing Department, in collaboration with the Aquaculture Department publishes the Journal of Fisheries Science and Technology. This department has a number of specialized laboratories including: Aquatic Processing Laboratory, Microbiology and Health of Fishery Products Laboratory, General Fisheries Laboratory, Biotechnology and Bioactive Compounds Laboratory and Nanotechnology Laboratory.
