Dramatic Literature

The dramatic literature was approved in the 270th session of the art committee of the Supreme Planning Council of the Ministry of Science on Feb. 12th, 1997 which permitted the faculty to hold master's degree in dramatic literature. The academic program began in 1999 at the TMU's Faculty of Art. The aim of this field of study is to promote the students' scientific level, artistic insight, writing power, literary development and artistic creativity in accordance with the Islamic cultural values. Given the fact that the foundation of drama (theater and cinema) activities consists of dramatic texts (plays and script), an urgent need was felt for the training of efficient specialists in this field. In addition to having an effective presence in the labor market, graduates in this field, are trained in professional activities and can provide consulting services in various government and private sectors. In this field, specialized courses such as advanced playwriting workshops, advanced scripting workshops, dramatic literature criticism and new theories are taught. TMU's Faculty of Art takes pride in the fact that a large number of contemporary play-writers and screenwriters, and many instructors at the universities throughout the country, are its graduates.
