    Abstract

In order to improve the vase life characteristics and postharvest quality of Alstroemeria cut flowers cv. Hercules and Mayfair, the effects of 1methylcyclopropene (1MCP) and ethylene have been investigated in a completely randomized design with three replications. First, cut flowers were fumigated at 0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 ?L L1 of 1MCP concentrations for 24 h and then exposed to 1 ?L L1 of ethylene for 18 h. This experiment was conducted at 20?2 C, 6065% RH, and a 12/12 h light/dark photoperiod. The results showed that 1MCP treatment significantly increased postharvest durability in both cultivars, compared to the control. Also, results of 1MCP treatment on leaf chlorophyll index in both cultivars, confirmed the role of 1MCP in preventing exter

    Abstract

Superoxide dismutases (SODs) are known as the first line of defense against reactive oxygen species (ROS). To better understand the regulatory effect of ethylene on programmed cell death and the molecular functions of SODs during the flower development, the expression patterns of RhMnSOD1, RhFeSOD1 and Cu/ Zn SOD1 genes, as well as the total SOD activities were compared in the two different roses, of ‘Marroussia’ and ‘Cool Water’ with long and short longevities, respectively. Total SOD activities were increased at the bud stage after 24?h of ethylene treatment also, H2O2 content increased at the bud stage at 48 h after the ethylene treatment in both cultivars. In most tissues, RhMnSOD1 and RhFeSOD1genes showed the highest levels o

    Abstract

The functional life and marketability of flowers is restricted by senescence and /or abscission. Many senescence-associated genes have been identified in the Arabidopsis plant. In this research, we isolated two full length clones of RhAA and RhCG in rose (Rosa hybrida) and compared the expression patterns of these genes in cultivars with short (‘Cool Water’) and long (‘Marroussia’) shelf lives. The RhAA gene is more similar to unknown proteins Cucurbita maxima, Gossypium arboretum and senescence-associated protein Medicago truncatula, while the RhCG is closer to the unknown proteins Pisum sativum and Dendrobium catenattum. The results of quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analysis showed that the RhAA was exp

    Abstract

An investigation isundertaken to study the transmission of the electromagnetic waves through inhomogeneous over-dense plasma. The transmission is due to the excitation of the surface modes of plasma or plasmons. The construction of the plasma is in such a way that the charge density of the plasma linearly increases and passes through its critical value and then linearly decreases. The dissipative effects are considered for the plasma. The amplitude of the electromagnetic waves and the reflection coefficient are calculated and then the distribution of the electric field amplitude of the entire structure is obtained and discussed. In this way, itis shown that the considered structure facilitates the anomalous wave transmission through over-de
